Buy-A-Brick to Support the Color Corps PDF Print E-mail
In order to raise funds for new member regalia, and to re-fit the Corps with replacement equipment as necessary, the Color Corps will be selling personalized Memorial Bricks that will be used to create a Memorial Patio where our Flagpole currently stands. The proceeds of the brick sales will be used to budget regalia purchases, as well as spruce up the flagpole area, and if funds permit, add a flagpole or 2 so that we can fly the KofC flag, Vatican flag, and/or Connecticut flag, as well as flags for events such as Saint Patrick’s, Columbus Day, or POW/MIA/Military flags for Memorial or Veteran’s Day.

Bricks can feature 4 lines of text and a KofC or other logo. Prices will be set in the next month, and we will begin sales immediately thereafter. Contact Dave Conroy at (203)877-9180 to reserve a brick.

Knights On Bikes PDF Print E-mail
I am always looking for new ways to get members involved. Everyone has an interest or activity that they might enjoy sharing with their fellow knights—why not take advantage of that?

Last May I learned that a group of Knights who enjoy riding motorcycles had organized fellow knights in Texas, Michigan, Mississippi, Minnesota, Kansas, North Carolina, South Dakota, Colorado, Florida, Oklahoma, Virginia, Delaware, Washington, New York, Illinois, and Washington DC. The Knights of Bikes program was born, as an opportunity for Knights to ride together, support KofC functions and events, and promote the Knights.

I contacted the National President Raymond Medina in Fort Worth, Texas and learned that although the Supreme Knight Carl Anderson was an honorary member, there was no Connecticut diocese of Knights on Bikes. I got the ball rolling and we now have 2 additional new members out of the Bridgeport area within our first month of existence. If you own/ride a motorcycle and would like a group of friends and fellow knights to ride with, contact me at (203)877-9180, or visit the Knights on Bikes CT website at:

2010 Game Dinner PDF Print E-mail
The annual Game Dinner will be held on February 12, 2010. This event has been a smashing success in the past and is a major fundraiser for the council.

$35 gets you a feast of various game meats, fowl, and seafood. There will be prize raffles with some great prizes!

While volunteers are useful for all areas of the event, most needed are people willing to help with cleanup. If you are willing to help out from 9pm-Midnight please notify one of the men below.

For more information contact Paul Barrette at (203)980-5231, or Bill Blotny at (203)807-9796. Tickets will be available at the bar—(203)874-9906.

Keep Christ In Christmas PDF Print E-mail
Sir Knight Al Tonry stepped up this holiday season to chair the “Keep Christ In Christmas” campaign. Al quickly moved into action, selling out all of last year’s “It’s OK To Say Merry Christmas To Me” buttons, and organizing a committee to sell the 150 new buttons ordered this year by our council.

Volunteers worked the crowds outside Shop Rite on December 19 as shoppers prepared for the first big snowstorm of the year. Despite the chilly weather, the hearts of shoppers were warm and generous.

As of last report, button sales and donations had raised over $500, and funded the purchase of a new 24-foot long “Keep Christ in Christmas” sign that should be mounted on the front of our building by the time you read this.

Thank You to Al, John Meuser, and the other volunteers for their hard work to revive this committee and return the focus of the season to our New Born King!
